『Material hug cushion 』は「素材を抱く」というテーマのもとに制作しました。本作では、山形で採取したコウゾ、シナ、竹を用いていますが、それぞれの地域的あるいは環境的な違いを強調するのではなく、植物を繊維に加工し、染め、織るという共通のプロセスに焦点を当てています。

技巧の巧みさや個別の独自性から注意をそらすことで、工芸を支える根源的な構造を明らかにすることを目指しました。繊維は本来の質感を保つために意図的に柔らかくせず、クッションの形に仕立てました。それは直接的な触れ合いを促し、人間と素材との本質的な関係についての省察を促すものです。
 
Material Hug was created under the theme of “embracing materials.” The work uses kozo, shina, and bamboo harvested in Yamagata, not to emphasize their local or environmental distinctions, but to focus on the shared processes of transforming plants into fiber, dyeing, and weaving. By shifting attention away from technical virtuosity or individual originality, it aims to reveal the fundamental structures that support craft. The fibers were intentionally left unsoftened to retain their natural texture and were formed into cushions, encouraging direct contact and inviting reflection on the essential relationship between humans and materials.
